Wrap up warm in your big coats and get out in the cool winter weather. Where to go? Let's give you a run down of the top 6 winter wonderlands in Cornwall. After a couple of years hiatus thanks to COVID, Christmas celebrations are back and more special than ever. You might even bump into Santa and his reindeers.
At number six there is the magnificent Mousehole Harbour Lights.
The first displays will be lit on Monday 12th December with displays added daily with the expectation that everything will be illuminated by Saturday 17th December. Each day the Lights will be lit from 5pm to 10pm. Displays will be turned off on January the 6th.
At number five it’s Santa in St Ives Harbour
On Friday 7th December, the high tide at 6pm will be bringing in a very special visitor… Celebrate the start of the festive season in a uniquely Cornish way with the arrival of Father Christmas by boat at St Ives, thanks to the RNLI.
At number four it's the steam-tastic (yes that is a real word and definitely not made up) Bodmin & Wenford Railway
Enjoy a ride aboard a steam train before going to see Santa and receive a gift. Upon arrival back at Bodmin General you will have the chance to see Santa and have your photo taken with him, as well as do some Christmas themed arts and crafts activities. Running from the 3rd to the 24th December.
At number three it is the Night Gardens at the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Seeing Santa here is already fully booked, but the incredible night gardens are a wonder to behold on their own. Take a trip through the illuminated woods, exploring woodlands and gardens beautifully lit with installations and lanterns. Following an extended 1-mile one-way journey around our accessible Gardens, the Heligan team will direct you to discover nature in a celebration of the wildlife that make Heligan their home all year round. Explore at your own pace, stop to take in the smells, toast marshmallows by our stunning fire bowls, experience our glittering oak trees, and enjoy seasonal warming take away refreshments and meals amid a truly festive backdrop for your Winter’s evening.
At number two it's the iconic Bude Beach Hut Christmas Market
And, of course at number one it is the Padstow Christmas Festival
Padstow is secure in being a year round destination thanks to celebrity chef demonstrations from the likes of Paul Ainsworth and Rick Stein, a fireworks display and a wonderful Christmas market to peruse at your leisure, or simply relax and watch the lantern parade go by whilst enjoying your favourite tipple.
